  I need a WHMCS Developer Licence

I need a WHMCS Developers Licence for testing purposes on my server, I need it to test out themes and other stuff when I actually buy WHMCS.
I am only going to be running it on localhost mainly because I do not want other people trying to purchase somehow?
Other than that hopefully it is free because I need it free for the moment so I can do this testing, also I'll need the download. [Image: smile.png]

a developers license would be free, but in order to get one, you already need to have a license direct from WHMCS... catch-22 Smile


therefore, the only legal way to do what you want would be to purchase a license from WHMCS - although ironically, if you do that, then you won't need to get a developers license. :-P

Can't understand. To test Themes and other stuff, means that you must buy them before. How you'll spend money to buy themes and addons, while you haven't decided yet if you'll use WHMCS or not?

Sadly, WHMCS does not have a monthly addon price for the license fees they only have now. I could see the one off prices when they sold owned licenses, but now it's kind of redundant. Maybe WHMCS could consider changing that too. Since they changed the price.

I know it. I had the owned licens, plus projects, plus license manager, plus mobile apps, plus chat and I sold all of them 2years ago for just $250. And now I'm in monthly plan Sad

If you have a server, surely you can afford a month of WHMCS, no?

why would you get rid of an owned license??

they can have my owned license when they can pry it from my cold dead hands.

Or when they "pull a Kayako" and make renewals so expensive and unpalatable that you have no choice.

And when that happens WHMCS will lose clients. Hundreds if not thousands of them.

Kayako committed self-murder in the process as well. You can't-do that if you release a buggy software, unstable and that has nothing but problems. Almost every company I know that used Kayako in the past is not using them anymore. I wonder why...

I stopped using Kayako (unlimited license) a lot of time before they even announced all those changes. Also, I would never consider a software like as a cloud service. There is way too much sensitive business data on the support system. I'm sure a lot of companies can't even use that for compliance reasons.

im quite new to WHMCS, setting up a wbhosting part of my Company, when installing WHMCS is ther anything to Think about wether I install it in a folder under http://www.mydomain.com/xx/WHMCS
or should i use a subdomain as http://www.management.mydomain.com and install it right in the root folder of that?

Where you install it is up to you. If you intend on using WHMCS as your whole site, use the main domain and root folder. If you intend to build a site around WHMCS, then use a sub-folder or sub-domain.

It all depends on your own business needs.

I would like to offer free hosting on my server and i need some answers-
Can the clients register Subdomains on my main domain?
Can he have the option to choose between His domain, or Subdomain on my domain? How?
I want to disable the option to register a domain, i just need an option for him to use his own domain on the free hosting, or use a subdomain..
Is it possible to offer several domains, so he can choose on which one he want to create his subdomain? how?

  Project Management demo

I looked but cannot find one - is there a demo of the Project Management addon found at http://www.whmcs.com/addons/project-management ?
I am looking to purchase an addon to keep track of hour worked on different projects for different customers, but need it to work in an easy manner and will also need to be able to add different tasks to projects such as 'Admin' and 'Development' for which I charge different hourly rates.

I have had a very quick play with the addon, but it don't seem to do what I am looking for.

Is there a similar addon/feature that will let me enter items into an invoice, but instead of generating an invoice for the user when I enter the data, only have it generate at the end of the month?

At the moment, I keep track of time spent working for a client on a spreadsheet and have to copy from the spreadsheet onto a new invoice on the last day of each month.

If I could have WHMCS automatically generate this invoice for me it would save me a lot of time.

I dont want the client to be able to see the invoice, or its contents, until its generated at the end of the month - kind of like the same way a phone bill is generated each month - you cant see the bill until the end of the month, but the network keep track of all calls and costs throughout the month and their system generates the bill automatically.

Billable items in whmcs?

Yeah, found a bgug with that also - when I set the due date to empty, because there is no due date, it's an ongoing project, it told me it was due 735344 days ago. Didnt even alert me to say it required a date or not so I dont really to part with that much money for an addon which hasnt been tested fully for things like that - not yet anyway.

I havent ever really used billable items, from the documentation I read on them I never had a use for them - I always just entered items directly into an invoice.

Would billable items do what I want? Because if I remember rightly, they get immediately added to an invoice dont they? So the user would then be able to see the invoice as soon as I add a billable item? I may be wrong though.

No they don't. When you create an item you can choose from the following;

Don't Invoice for Now (and later create an invoice when you want to)

Invoice on Next Cron Run

Add to User's Next Invoice

Invoice as Normal for Due Date

Recur Every X period for Y times

You can also invoice directly from tickets if that is more convenient.

That should work.

How can I have WHMCS automatically create in invoice for a specific client on the last day of each month though since the day will vary between 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st.

Or can I make it generate the invoice on the first of the month and have it add all billable items from the previous month to it? Maybe that would be better.

i'm not aware if there is one... when WHMCS took their demo down (last year I think), the only other live WHMCS demo I was aware of is the Softaculous demo - but the admin side hasn't worked for months (and I don't think it includes the Project Management addon anyway).


I want to see the project management add on though and I'm assuming the Softaculous demo won't have any add-ons active and there isn't a trial version
